Dead She Said

Since that first comic I stole yes that is how I got into Comics. It was avengers # 38. I tell everyone the story. Might as well tell you. I always loved mythology so there I was about 10 or 11 years old it was winter I remember because in the ole days everyone had what was known as Parker's.They were these big green heavy jackets that I had the inseam ripped due to wear and tear. Well just like the stories you used to hear to get books back then you would go into a soda shop and on the counter were a box of comics. Or on a spinner rack where these morsel's of eye candy. That was the beginning of the end of a life long association with the 4 color world. Next as I grew a little older my taste changed, I discovered House of Mystery and House of Secrets. Which leads me to this post Bernie Wrightson! The penultimate master of artistry bar none. Well it so happens that he and Steve Niles, the man who some consider the master of modern day, horror in the 4 color world whose work as translated onto the big screen with 30 Days Of Night. Which is currently being shown on the Starz network. Well onto the latest offering Dead She Said. It is quite easy to see why Steve crafts a masterful horror book. This starts off with Detective Joe Coogan our main character in a pool of blood on a bed splash page by the master (Wrightson) as he will now be addressed by. The next couple of pages start to tell you that something is wrong with Coogan simply, put he is dead. The art for this book is exactly what comic book professional always preach about. Telling a story with art that flows form panel to panel don't think in the present day world of comics anybody can pull off this as the master has. There are the usual traits in the story a love interest and mad scientist behind the whole fiscal but don't let this deter you. This book ends as you would like always wanting more. Hopefully this leaves you wanting more go pick up this book you won't be disappointed.
